About

Hi! My Name is Bruce. I've been involved in the MultiValue arena since January 8, 1982. I've worked in most apects related to MutiValue database environments, from small concerns to very large enterprises, from simple architectures to very complex ones.

For a few years of my career, I worked for Rocket Software, itself. Thrice. The first time was to work on a new product, an integration of the UniVerse/UniData/D3 databases with another Rocket product, Aldon Software Lifecycle Management for the Enterprise (aka Aldom LMe). The project was begun before I was hired but I ultimately became the Principal Developer for the U2 (UniVerse/UniData) and D3 side.

Unfortunately, the product was never widely sold.

A while later, I was rehired to work in Rocket Technical Support for the Aldon product line. I was not involved with MultiValue in this capacity but it was fulfilling and satisfying. However, family issues prevailed on me, because the On Call rotation impinged on weekend and other time, to resign.

I worked a few contract gigs to keep the household afloat financially and then I was rehired at Rocket Software, this time as a Technical Support Engineer for the MultiValue Databases and associated products, mostly o the U2 (UniVerse and UniData) side.

While the bulk of my career has been involved in Development, I have worked in positions to oversee the current UniVerse DBA, have replaced said DBA, and have contracted with a large company to handle day-to-day UniVerse DBA tasks while another DBA worked on re-architecting the UniVerse servers.

So I do have hands on experience.

I hope you are able to glean what you need from these pages. The work of a UniVerse DBA is very challenging yet fulfilling and satisfying at the same time!
