What is Rocket ® UniVerse?

UniVerse could be considered a MultiValue database or embedded database, depending on your point of view. There are many such databases. The MultiValue Family of Databases are those that stem from the "Pick" Operating System and Database.

Rocket Software, over the years, has become the major supplier and developer of MultiValue databases, including UniVerse.

The UniVerse DB Admin (aka "UV DBA")

The Rocket ® UniVerse database as provided by Rocket Software intends lower TCO with minimal DBA involvement. There are some large and/or complex installations, though, where a UniVerse DBA can be beneficial. It would be for those that this site is intended. This should in no way discriminate against a smaller installation! Sometimes a "DBA-type" can be quite useful on a Development Team and handle many of the mundane tasks most developers are wont to ignore or pass up.

The Navigation links to the left will provide a path for learning some skills that can augment the development skills a UniVerse Developer would have. This is in no way comprehensive. Rather, it takes what I have garnered in my own career and presents them in a fashion that makes sense to me. There's no gurantee it will make sense to you!
